A top price for Lorenzo di Credi - as previously expected
The work Portrait of a gentleman, possibly Girolamo Benivieni (1453-1542), half-length by Lorenzo di Credi was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2017. It changed hands for a price of USD 667,500.00 (€ 612,666.36) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Portrait of a gentleman, possibly Girolamo Benivieni (1453-1542), half-length is the most expensive artwork by Lorenzo di Credi that we have observed at auctions so far.
