Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Lois Mailou Jones could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2012 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction, the work Three Warriors changed hands for USD 5,000.00 (€ 3,889.23) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lois Mailou Jones - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Le Consulat, which sold at auction in April 2012 for USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,173.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lois Mailou Jones konnte im September 2012 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture wechselte die Arbeit Three Warriors für USD 5.000,00 (€ 3.889,23) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Lois Mailou Jones mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Le Consulat beobachtet, die im April 2012 für USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.173,41) versteigert wurde.
