In December 2020 Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction, which included the work Street Scene (Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Malacca) by Liu Kang. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 604,800.00 (€ 63,793.30), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Liu Kang have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Adjusting The Waistband in May last year with an auction result of HKD 3,150,000.00 (€ 373,972.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Phillips in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Street Scene (Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Malacca) von Liu Kang zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 604.800,00 (€ 63.793,30) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liu Kang auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Adjusting The Waistband im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.150.000,00 (€ 373.972,60).
