This artwork by Lionel Walden achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2002. In the Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work The Bathers sold for USD 14,340.00 (€ 14,638.63) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lionel Walden have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hawaiian Coast in June 2014 with an auction result of USD 106,250.00 (€ 77,611.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lionel Walden erzielte im Juli 2002 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit The Bathers für USD 14.340,00 (€ 14.638,63) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lionel Walden auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hawaiian Coast im Juni 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 106.250,00 (€ 77.611,40).
