Sold at the lower estimate price
The work A Mediterranean Coast At Dawn With A Galliot Preparing To Unload Its Cargo Beside Classical Architectural Fragments, A Frigate Being Caulked Beyond by Lieve Pietersz. Verschuier was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2012. The result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 24,665.55) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lieve Pietersz. Verschuier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sailors unloading cargo from a sailing vessel, moored on a Mediterranean shore, with a rowing boat and a three-master beyond, at dawn in May 2000 with an auction result of NLG 304,252.00 (€ 132,849.31).
