In December 2020 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Paintings & Sculpture Online, which included the work The Royal visit of H.M. King George III and H.M. Queen Charlotte to Plymouth Dockyard, Plymouth, 18th August 1789: Their Majesties the King and Queen arriving at Plymouth Sound aboard H.M.S. Southampton with H.M.S. Magnificent in attendance; and Their Maj by Thomas Yates. The result of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,170.89) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Other works by Thomas Yates have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2013 the work Two Deckers of the Red Squadron preparing to anchor at Gibraltar whilst waiting for a pilot; and The morning gun, the Straits of Dover was auctioned for GBP 15,625.00 (€ 18,677.27).
