This artwork by Thomas Yates achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2010. In the Maritime Art auction, the work A two-decker firing a morning gun amidst other shipping in the Thames estuary sold for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,029.83) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Yates - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Deckers of the Red Squadron preparing to anchor at Gibraltar whilst waiting for a pilot; and The morning gun, the Straits of Dover, which sold at auction in September 2013 for GBP 15,625.00 (€ 18,677.27).

Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Yates mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Two Deckers of the Red Squadron preparing to anchor at Gibraltar whilst waiting for a pilot; and The morning gun, the Straits of Dover beobachtet, die im September 2013 für GBP 15.625,00 (€ 18.677,27) versteigert wurde.
