Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Princess Royal And Other Ships Of The British Fleet Under Vice-Admiral Barrington Off St. Lucia by Thomas Yates was sold in the Old Master Paintings and British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in April 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,069.54) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Thomas Yates have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in September 2013 the work Two Deckers of the Red Squadron preparing to anchor at Gibraltar whilst waiting for a pilot; and The morning gun, the Straits of Dover was auctioned for GBP 15,625.00 (€ 18,677.27).
