Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Calligraphy In Running Script by Liang Tongshu was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,877.58). Admittedly, works by Liang Tongshu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy Scrolls in April 2013 with an auction result of HKD 690,000.00 (€ 67,543.29).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy In Running Script von Liang Tongshu im September 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.500,00 (€ 6.877,58) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liang Tongshu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy Scrolls im April 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 690.000,00 (€ 67.543,29).
