Since Liang Quan returned home from overseas studies in the 1980s,he has been active in the development of abstract art. As one of the pioneers for Chinese contemporary abstract arts,Liang Quan’s creations have always been avant-garde,from the earliest installation art in China,mixed medium creation to the earliest abstract art. He has contributed largely to the development and advancement for Chinese abstract art. Following the uprising reforms of contemporary art,the artistic value of his works is more highlighted while people are valuing the abstract art.
In the painting “Seaside”,Liang Quan cut the rice paper or tore it into strips. The paper strips are thinly coated with light ink or light blue colors,followed by repeatedly stacking as the mounting skills in traditional Chinese painting to present the “stability.” Massive horizontal lines are used to express the sea surface and hints of remote memories. After he moved to Shenzhen,Liang Quan started thinking about new artistic language. He discovered some objects,such as tea,Chinese medicine and coffee that can intentionally leave traces on the paper. He studies the different liquid through observing the stains and the color,rendering traces and their mutual relationship on the rice paper. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Tea Ceremony by Liang Quan was auctioned at China Guardian in Hong Kong in October 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 100,000.00 – 200,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 118,000.00 (€ 13,785.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Liang Quan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in April 2015 with an auction result of CNY 587,500.00 (€ 84,845.91).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Tea Ceremony von Liang Quan kam im Oktober 2015 bei China Guardian in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 100.000,00 – 200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 118.000,00 (€ 13.785,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Liang Quan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im April 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CNY 587.500,00 (€ 84.845,91).
