In April 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale, which included the work Austrian At The Ball by Leopold Schmutzler. The »bidding war« ended at USD 46,000.00 (€ 29,547.79), 15% above the upper estimate. Other works by Leopold Schmutzler have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 47,000.00 (€ 50,385.93) in May 2000 for the work A Nude on the Beach.

Im April 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art including The Orientalist Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Austrian At The Ball von Leopold Schmutzler zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 46.000,00 (€ 29.547,79) und damit 15% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Andere Arbeiten von Leopold Schmutzler haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von USD 47.000,00 (€ 50.385,93) im Mai 2000 für die Arbeit A Nude on the Beach beobachtet.
