Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pears and a teapot on a draped stool before a bed by Leonard Major was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 587.50 (€ 843.36). Other works by Leonard Major have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2003 by the work The old busker at GBP 646.25 (€ 927.70).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pears and a teapot on a draped stool before a bed von Leonard Major im November 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 587,50 (€ 843,36) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Leonard Major wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2003 die Arbeit The old busker mit GBP 646,25 (€ 927,70).
