This artwork by Leon Polk Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March this year. In the Art of Collecting: A Pacific Island Connoisseur of Art and Design auction, the work Twist sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 25,496.69) - well above the upper estimate of USD 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leon Polk Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Over Red in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 336,500.00 (€ 297,182.73).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Leon Polk Smith erzielte im März diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Art of Collecting: A Pacific Island Connoisseur of Art and Design wurde die Arbeit Twist für USD 27.720,00 (€ 25.496,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leon Polk Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Over Red im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 336.500,00 (€ 297.182,73).
