Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Handball Players, Houston Street, New York by Leon Levinstein was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,772.00 (€ 2,336.48). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Leon Levinstein - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Coney Island, 1975, which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 8,400.00 (€ 6,349.21).
