Auction result well in line with expectations
The work French The Captivity Of The Jews In Babylon by Léon François Comerre was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 59,567.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Léon François Comerre have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French Le Triomphe Du Cygne in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 240,500.00 (€ 336,762.22).
