Artwork auctioned at six times the upper estimate price

When the work Century View Series by Leng Jun was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2014, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 700,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than six times as high at HKD 4,840,000.00 (€ 498,292.10). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Leng Jun; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Five Pointed Star sold at auction in March 2007 with the realized price of USD 1,216,000.00 (€ 909,226.86).

Kunstwerk zum Sechsfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit Century View Series von Leng Jun im Oktober 2014 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 700.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 4.840.000,00 (€ 498.292,10) mehr als sechsmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Leng Jun; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Five Pointed Star im März 2007 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 1.216.000,00 (€ 909.226,86).
