Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Lemuel Everett Wilmarth could be acquired at Christies in New York in April 2002 for an unexpectedly low price. In the IMPORTANT AMERICAN PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND SCULPTURE auction, the work Still Life with Peaches and Grapes changed hands for USD 47,800.00 (€ 53,099.31) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lemuel Everett Wilmarth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life with Oranges and Raisins, which sold at auction in November 2001 for USD 154,500.00 (€ 172,471.53).
