Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spring - A Village Scene With Peasants Milking Goats And Baking Bread by Leandro da Ponte was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in April 2013. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,700.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leandro da Ponte achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ritratto di un frate, probabilmente Fra Paolo Sarpi, a mezza figura, in una tunica bianca con mozzetta nera e un breviario in mano in December 2001 with an auction result of ITL 268,700,000.00 (€ 241,500.95).
