Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Veera by Laxman Pai was sold in the South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Online auction at Christies in New York in March this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 5,292.00 (€ 4,867.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laxman Pai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Houses), which sold at auction in March last year for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,037.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Veera von Laxman Pai wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 5.292,00 (€ 4.867,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Laxman Pai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Houses) beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.037,77) versteigert wurde.
