In September this year Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work Birds & Kites 9 by Laxman Pai. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,547.62), 39% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laxman Pai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Houses), which sold at auction in March last year for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,037.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im September diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Birds & Kites 9 von Laxman Pai zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.547,62) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Laxman Pai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Houses) beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.037,77) versteigert wurde.
