In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Teen Murti by Laxman Pai. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,560.00 (€ 6,815.11), 64% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laxman Pai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Houses), which sold at auction in March last year for USD 18,900.00 (€ 17,037.77).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Teen Murti von Laxman Pai zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 7.560,00 (€ 6.815,11) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Laxman Pai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Houses) beobachtet, die im März letzten Jahres für USD 18.900,00 (€ 17.037,77) versteigert wurde.
