In November 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision, which included the work Bordadoras (Embroiderers) by Laureano Barrau. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 11,875.00 (€ 16,628.07), 48% above the upper estimate. Other works by Laureano Barrau have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,266.45) in November 2011 for the work Spanish gente De Mar (Fishermen).
