Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Where Souls Dwell IV by Laila Shawa was sold in the Modern and Contemporary Arab,Iranian and Turkish Art Part II auction at Christies in Dubai in October 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 12,500.00 (€ 9,195.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Laila Shawa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Children of War, Children of Peace, which sold at auction in February 2007 for USD 38,400.00 (€ 29,024.94).
