Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2007 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Sale - Paintings, which included the work The Dyak Zotov Instructing The Tsarevich Petr Alexeevich In His Letters by Klavdi Vasilievich Lebedev. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,600.00 (€ 32,053.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Klavdi Vasilievich Lebedev - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The jester and the gusli player, which sold at auction in November 2005 for GBP 66,000.00 (€ 96,962.34).
