Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Klavdi Vasilievich Lebedev could be acquired at Christies in London in March 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Pictures including Russian Pictures auction, the work A Study For Marfa Posadnitsa, The Destruction of The Novgorod Veche changed hands for GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,035.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Klavdi Vasilievich Lebedev have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The jester and the gusli player in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 66,000.00 (€ 96,962.34).
