Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Beauties at Enoshima by Kitagawa Utamaro was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year. The price achieved of USD 30,240.00 (€ 30,910.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitagawa Utamaro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 381,000.00.

Die Arbeit Beauties at Enoshima von Kitagawa Utamaro kam im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 30.240,00 (€ 30.910,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitagawa Utamaro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 381.000,00.
