Auction result well in line with expectations
The work a couple enjoying a sexual encounter by Kitagawa Utamaro was auctioned at Bonhams in London in May this year. It changed hands for a price of GBP 768.00 (€ 893.57) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kitagawa Utamaro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'amour évident (Arawaruru koi), portrait en buste (okubi-e) d'une jeune femme s'arrangeant une épingle à cheveux sur fond micacé, de la série Anthologie de poèmes: la section de l'amour, (Kasen koi no bu in May 2018 with an auction result of EUR 381,000.00.

Die Arbeit a couple enjoying a sexual encounter von Kitagawa Utamaro kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 768,00 (€ 893,57) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Kitagawa Utamaro erzielen.
