Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2003 Christies in London held the auction Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures, which included the work A young girl, seated in red upholstered chair holding a book in her right hand, white dress with ruffled collar, green and blue tartan sash, coral and gold earring, curling brown hair; pillar and landscape background by Kenneth Macleay. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 836.50 (€ 1,184.79) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Kenneth Macleay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Pair Of Portraits Of John Neil Dyce (C.1810-1880) Of Castlebank House, South Lanarkshire, And His Wife Elizabeth Hamilton Bowie (1825-1916), Circa 1840 in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,797.4
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Gold Boxes,Objects of Vertu & Portrait Miniatures durch, in der auch die Arbeit A young girl, seated in red upholstered chair holding a book in her right hand, white dress with ruffled collar, green and blue tartan sash, coral and gold earring, curling brown hair; pillar and landscape background von Kenneth Macleay zur Versteigerung kam. A Pair Of Portraits Of John Neil Dyce (C.1810-1880) Of Castlebank House, South Lanarkshire, And His Wife Elizabeth Hamilton Bowie (1825-1916), Circa 1840|AID
