Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chamberlain Hinchcliff, facing left in a black coat and stock, buff-coloured waistcoat, seated in and leaning on a chair; window and interior background by Kenneth Macleay was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 200.00 – 300.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 211.50 (€ 276.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kenneth Macleay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Pair Of Portraits Of John Neil Dyce (C.1810-1880) Of Castlebank House, South Lanarkshire, And His Wife Elizabeth Hamilton Bowie (1825-1916), Circa 1840 in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,797.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Chamberlain Hinchcliff, facing left in a black coat and stock, buff-coloured waistcoat, seated in and leaning on a chair; window and interior background von Kenneth Macleay kam im Juli 2003 bei Christies in London zur Auktion.
