Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Gentleman Holding A Telescope by Kenneth Macleay for GBP 625.00 (€ 755.67). This price was achieved in the auction A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Kenneth Macleay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Pair Of Portraits Of John Neil Dyce (C.1810-1880) Of Castlebank House, South Lanarkshire, And His Wife Elizabeth Hamilton Bowie (1825-1916), Circa 1840 in April 2021 with an auction result of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 5,797.47).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman Holding A Telescope von Kenneth Macleay für GBP 625,00 (€ 755,67) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion A GREAT BRITISH COLLECTION: The pictures collected by Sir David and Lady Scott, sold to benefit the Finnis Scott Foundation bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kenneth Macleay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Pair Of Portraits Of John Neil Dyce (C.1810-1880) Of Castlebank House, South Lanarkshire, And His Wife Elizabeth Hamilton Bowie (1825-1916), Circa 1840 im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 5.797,47).
