Sold at the upper estimate price
The work The pirate Watonai subduing a tiger by Katsukawa Shunei was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2020. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,651.99), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsukawa Shunei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Sumo Wrestlers in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,394.03).
