In June 2020 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work #20, 1976 by Karl Stanley Benjamin. The »bidding war« ended at USD 35,075.00 (€ 31,230.52), 40% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Karl Stanley Benjamin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Yellow Landscape, 1953, which sold at auction in April last year for USD 68,415.00 (€ 64,928.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2020 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit #20, 1976 von Karl Stanley Benjamin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 35.075,00 (€ 31.230,52) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Karl Stanley Benjamin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Yellow Landscape, 1953 beobachtet, die im April letzten Jahres für USD 68.415,00 (€ 64.928,35) versteigert wurde.
