This artwork by Karl Pavlovich Briullov achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in April 2002. In the Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art auction, the work Lovers' Quarrel sold for USD 57,360.00 (€ 63,719.17) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Karl Pavlovich Briullov have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study for 'The Return of Pope Pius IX to Rome from Basillica Santa Maria Maggiore' in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 433,600.00 (€ 637,013.20).

In der Auktion Important Silver, Objects of Vertu and Russian Works of Art wurde die Arbeit Lovers' Quarrel für USD 57.360,00 (€ 63.719,17) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Karl Pavlovich Briullov auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Study for 'The Return of Pope Pius IX to Rome from Basillica Santa Maria Maggiore' im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 433.600,00 (€ 637.013,20).
