In October 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art and Orientalist Art, which included the work The Old Galatea Bridge connecting Karakoy to Eminonu Over the Golden Horn, Istanbul by Themistokles von Eckenbrecher. The »bidding war« ended at USD 23,750.00 (€ 16,415.54), 58% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Themistokles von Eckenbrecher; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot German a Busy Street In Tangiers sold at auction in May 2011 with the realized price of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,152.55).
