Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2013 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Market Day, Masham, North Yorkshire by Julius Caesar Ibbetson. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,042.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Julius Caesar Ibbetson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View of Ullswater, Cumberland, Taken From Gowbarrow Park; And View of Grasmere, Westmoreland, Taken From White Moss in June 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,493.30).
