Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Stand-Off/Winter Landscape with Moose and Wolves framed 43.5 x 81.5 x 6.0 cm (17 1/8 x 32 1/8 x 2 1/2 in). by Julian Falat was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 20,480.00 (€ 18,775.21). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julian Falat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work City Walls With The Basilica of The Virgin Mary In The Background, Krakow, which sold at auction in April 2006 for USD 66,000.00 (€ 52,281.37).
