A top price for Joseph Severn - as previously expected
In August 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Scottish & Sporting Pictures, which included the work The Abdication Of Mary Queen Of Scots by Joseph Severn. It changed hands for a price of GBP 115,250.00 (€ 142,913.46) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Abdication Of Mary Queen Of Scots is the most expensive artwork by Joseph Severn that we have observed at auctions so far.
