The »bidding war« ended at GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,752.75), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph Severn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Abdication Of Mary Queen Of Scots in August 2008 with an auction result of GBP 115,250.00 (€ 142,913.46).

Die Arbeit Prospero And Ariel, From Shakespeare'S The Tempest von Joseph Severn wurde im Mai 2020 in der Auktion Refining Taste: Works Selected by Danny Katz bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.752,75) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Severn auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Abdication Of Mary Queen Of Scots im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 115.250,00 (€ 142.913,46).
