Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2002 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures including Pictures, which included the work The Severn at Shrewsbury by Joseph Paul Pettitt. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,881.22) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joseph Paul Pettitt have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The saw mill, Camlaw, North Wales in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 7,637.50 (€ 12,483.19).
