A top price for Joseph Nollekens - as previously expected
The work Mercury In Repose by Joseph Nollekens was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in New York in January 2014. The price achieved of USD 68,750.00 (€ 50,925.93) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Mercury In Repose is the most expensive artwork by Joseph Nollekens that we have observed at auctions so far.
