Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of A Young Girl by Joseph Raphael was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2015, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,318.58). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Raphael achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tea In The Orchard in August 2019 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 498,748.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of A Young Girl von Joseph Raphael im April 2015 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.318,58) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Raphael erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tea In The Orchard im August 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 548.075,00 (€ 498.748,75).
