Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Polo Match by Joseph Francis Kernan was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,625.00 (€ 4,055.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Francis Kernan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bad Moment for a Tangled Line! in September last year with an auction result of USD 40,695.00 (€ 41,597.67).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Polo Match von Joseph Francis Kernan im April 2014 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 5.625,00 (€ 4.055,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Francis Kernan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bad Moment for a Tangled Line! im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 40.695,00 (€ 41.597,67).
