JOSEPH EDMONDSON (ACTIVE MID-LATE 18TH CENTURY)
[Heraldry]: Eight Plates
eight engravings, circa 1770, with hand-coloring, on laid papers, all with margins, pale light- staining and occasional foxing mostly within the margins on several plates, Plate 33 with a small diagonal crease in the upper right margin corner, otherwise all apparently in very good condition, in faux-bronzed frames and French mats with wash lines, not examined out of the frames

The work Heraldry: Eight Plates by Joseph Edmondson was sold in the THE HOUSE SALE auction at Christies in New York in October 2002. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,107.00 (€ 3,144.42), 55% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joseph Edmondson; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Baron Geneology: Twelve Plates sold at auction in December 2004 with the realized price of USD 4,541.00 (€ 3,354.26).

Die Arbeit Heraldry: Eight Plates von Joseph Edmondson wurde im Oktober 2002 in der Auktion THE HOUSE SALE bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.107,00 (€ 3.144,42) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Joseph Edmondson; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Baron Geneology: Twelve Plates im Dezember 2004 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 4.541,00 (€ 3.354,26).
