In March 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES, which included the work The mid-day rest by Joseph Denovan Adam. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,479.90), 47% above the upper estimate. Other works by Joseph Denovan Adam have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,174.12) in April 2009 for the work Highland Cattle.
