Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May last year Christies in New York held the auction The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs and Melvin Jacobs, which included the work Untitled (Blue Sand Tray) by Joseph Cornell. Here, the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 60,480.00 (€ 56,360.08). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Cornell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Medici Slot Machine in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 7,781,000.00 (€ 5,704,545.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs and Melvin Jacobs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Blue Sand Tray) von Joseph Cornell zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 60.480,00 (€ 56.360,08) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Cornell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Medici Slot Machine im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.781.000,00 (€ 5.704.545,45).
