Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2003 Christies in London held the auction Important Silver, Russian Works of Art and Paintings, which included the work A Russian Officer in a Troika by Jósef Chelmonski. The price achieved of GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,886.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jósef Chelmonski achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Midnight Ride in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 337,500.00 (€ 370,552.56).
