Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by José Leonilson was sold in the Latin American Art auction at Christies in New York in May 2016. The price achieved of USD 68,750.00 (€ 61,742.25) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Leonilson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Do espirito do oscuro espero as flores brancas, which sold at auction in October last year for USD 138,600.00 (€ 139,520.84).

Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von José Leonilson wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 61.742,25) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von José Leonilson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Do espirito do oscuro espero as flores brancas beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für USD 138.600,00 (€ 139.520,84) versteigert wurde.
