It achieved a price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,118.43), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 50%. Admittedly, works by José Leonilson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Do espirito do oscuro espero as flores brancas in October last year with an auction result of USD 138,600.00 (€ 139,520.84).

Die Arbeit O rapaz do pensamento von José Leonilson wurde im November 2018 in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 33.118,43) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 50%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von José Leonilson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Do espirito do oscuro espero as flores brancas im Oktober letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 138.600,00 (€ 139.520,84).
