Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Las Tres Gracias (The Three Graces) by José Gallegos was sold in the 19th Century Paintings including Spanish Painting and Symbolism & the Poetic Vision auction at Sothebys in London in November 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 30,500.00 (€ 42,707.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by José Gallegos - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Choir of St. Mark'S, Venice, which sold at auction in November 2006 for GBP 84,000.00 (€ 124,742.63).
