This artwork by Jorge de la Vega achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2007. In the Latin American Art auction, the work Gato En El Espejo sold for USD 313,000.00 (€ 213,099.13) - well above the upper estimate of USD 175,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jorge de la Vega; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Billiken sold at auction in November 2008 with the realized price of USD 422,500.00 (€ 332,834.41).
